4. CLARIFICATION REMOVES BARRIER TO BATTERY STORAGE FOR 900,000 SOLAR HOMES

   Updated technical guidance by Ofgem has been released, that clarifies the treatment of existing payments for homes that currently export Solar power to the grid and that want to install battery storage and smart meters. The clarification is good news for existing solar homes looking to invest in battery storage alongside a smart meter because it means they will continue to be eligible to keep their ‘deemed’ [estimated] payments for their Solar exports. More information can be found by clicking here

7. Tesla Powerwall 2 improved warranty

   Tesla have improved the warranty for the Powerwall 2.

   Previously only customers using the battery for self consumption of solar benefited from the market leading unlimited cycle warranty, it has now been updated to include customers using the time based control feature who can now also take advantage of this unlimited cycle warranty for 10 years.

   In summary:

   • 10 year warranty
   • 13.5kWh 100% fully usable energy scalable to over 120kWh
   • 5kW of Power that is scalable with each Powerwall installed
   • Active Temperature Control giving longer life and flexible install position
   • Unlimited Cycles for Self Consumption and Time Based Control (Grid Charging)
   • 80% energy retention after 10years
   • Constant Software updates enhancing the product and sent out to all Powerwalls
   • Backup function available as option
   • Able to set up as three-phase

   This improved warranty update is retrospective to all existing owners which is great news for clients who have invested already.

8. Workplace EV Charging grant increases to potential £10,000

   Last week it was announced the Workplace Charging grant would increase to £500 per socket and workplaces can now claim multiple times.

   Act fast though as funding is only available on a first come first served basis for a maximum of 8,000 sockets or until 31st March 2019, whichever comes first.

   The key points:

   All new vouchers issued from 24th July will receive £500 discount per socket on eligible charging equipment.

   Businesses already in possession of £300 voucher that has not been claimed against, can withdraw it and reapply to get the higher contribution.

   Businesses can now submit a multiple voucher application subsequent to their first application.

   With a maximum of 20 sockets being claimed per business.
