Solar with Tesla Powerwalls in Walsall

A RESIDENTIAL CASE STUDY

Our client originally made contact in May 2020 to discuss having a Tesla Powerwall installed as was keen to have back up power in the event of a powercut as he ran an IT company and worked from home. The Powerwall was installed in November 2020. Making use of off-peak tariffs at night he was also able to reduce his energy costs by customising the settings in the Powerwall & charging it at night to then discharge during the day when costs were higher.

The client was pleased with the system so began to investigate adding Solar to his house. After a number of proposals were discussed it was decided a 7.20kWp system using SunPower Maxeon 400w panels optimised over 3 roofs using SolarEdge inverter would suit his annual energy usage well and by adding a second Powerwall we could ensure as much of the energy would be self-consumed on site.

The client has also future proofed his installation by installing a myenergi Zappi EV Charger & included an Eddi immersion controller.

We had a number of discussions with the local network operator for this work to go ahead and a new supply was provided by Western Power Distribution as their cost to ensure we could install all the equipment to work harmoniously with the network.

The equipment was all installed In April and since then the client has only purchased 2% of his electricity needs.

The work by our customer has not ended there with a new EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) being carried out giving the house an “A” rating.

I reached out to Stratford Energy Solutions after doing my own research into the best solar panels to buy and they were one of the nearest installers. From the very start of dealing with Georgia and quotation and her clear guidance around my requirements and options to Charlie doing the survey and Jess with the administration I have to say they were all first class.There was no hard sell at any point and their communication was always very timely and clear. and right up to and after the fitting date I was kept up to date with the schedule.The fitters were very neat and tidy (pictures included) and very professional.I would not hesitate to recommend the Stratford team to anybody considering installing solar and battery in the future.If only all trades people could be so professional.

Professional, fantastic communication and brilliant quote. The work carried out by SES has been brilliant, a really tidy neat job, we had been looking at SES for years prior and when the time came to install our Solar system we received quotes from multiple companies but the quality of product and quote set SES apart for what they were offering. The work involved in running several quotes adjusted to the many questions I had and then the follow up as we waited for the PW3 to come available was top notch.We would highly recommend SES.

One year on we are very pleased with our Solar & Powerwall system. The whole thing sits there quietly and unobtrusively doing just what it is supposed to – During 2024 we have been 79% solar powered and have sent 1.12 Mwh to the grid. In 2023 we were 57% solar but as the install was mid-August this seems quite acceptable given that we were into the winter period quite soon after.We have not changed our routine much – where possible I do now put the dishwasher and washing machine on during the day when the panels are generating but we have continued to use the oven as necessary in the evenings.Obviously, our energy bills have dropped significantly! The Apps have been really useful for monitoring battery charge etc and just for being able to show off!! (I always recommend Stratford Energy as we were very impressed with the whole process) It has also helped that I have been able to demonstrate to Chris (who you may recall was less devoted to the idea of solar than me) how beneficial the system is.Since installing the solar system, we have also been motivated to upgrade a couple of radiators and put internal wall insulation onto the wall in our back family room that is always difficult to keep warm. So, it has been a major first step in improving our green credentials and helping future proof the house!

I had issues with my Zappi home charger earlier this year. I tried contacting MyEnergi directly but wasn't getting anywhere fast. I contacted Stratford Energy Solutions who had installed it. Lisa was fantastic she made contact with MyEnergi on my behalf and kept me up to date as to the progress of my issue. She really went the extra mile when often people don't. The issue has been resolved and the Zappi was replaced under warranty. Stratford Energy came out to fit the new one. Thank you so much.

We were their 15th customer when Stratford Energy set up. We were so pleased with the service we have not considered another firm. First with solar panels in 2011, then a Tesla Powerwall, then a car charger and last month a second Tesla Powerwall. You receive good and accurate advice with options to consider. The fitting is undertaken by knowledgeable, professional and pleasant staff; always a neat job and they clear up afterwards. Support is excellent even after fitting from the office to the owners. Having recently had solar panels and a storage battery installed by Stratford Energy Solutions I’d strongly recommend this company to you.I started considering a solar system some months ago and having spoken to friends who already had one I shortlisted 2 companies to get quotes from, one being Stratford Energy Solutions. From the beginning of the process the people I spoke to were helpful and informative and it became clear to me they were more knowledgeable than the other company I was considering. A particular shout out in this regard to Georgia Howson, the Operations Manager.Having decided to go ahead with them they pulled out the all the stops to get the system in by the end of the year so I could benefit from a deal that was on offer from the battery supplier. They organised the scaffolding company (who were great BTW) and then their installation team of 4 arrived the day after to complete the work. Without exception all of the installers were polite, hard-working and clearly knew what they had to do, which the did very professionally. Having successfully completed the job by 4pm they left everything neat and tidy, with the scaffolders returning two days later to remove their three scaffold installations.Without doubt the whole experience was stress-free and at all times Stratford Energy Solutions did what they said they’d do.Yours truly…one very happy customer.

Excellent service throughout, helpful and friendly, no hard sell. Installation day was amazing, work completed in less than 6 hours, the team were all polite and respectful, high standard of workmanship, neat and tidy. The system seems to be working well so far; I'm looking forward to longer and sunnier days.Scaffolding company used were also efficient and polite; erected the afternoon before installation and removed 2 days later.

I would highly recommend Stratford Energy Solutions!From start to finish. The communication, organisation and information/advice from the office/clerical team was excellent.The installation team were exemplary, they turned up at the time stated, they were polite, tidy and respectful of the property. They were all great ambassadors for the company.The wiring is neat, tidy and largely invisible, the panels are perfectly symmetrical and everything is level. The whole installation looks better than I could have wished for.

We found Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd really easy to work with throughout the whole process of quotation, preparation for installation and installation and post installation. The staff installing on the day were quick and professional and polite. They responded quickly to emails and phone calls and kept us up to date. The system has been installed for two months now and is performing really well. There was no messing about in the initial quotation phase but they were open to some negotiation. The other national companies we dealt with tried the hard sell approach but we didn't get that with Stratford Energy Solutions. Ultimately, we feel we got a better quality system than offered by the other national companies and although more expensive it was competitively priced.
