We at Stratford Energy specialise in designing and installing Solar PV Solutions. This includes all roof types from standard to complex structures. We are experienced in conducting a detailed roof analysis and site survey, to find the best solution for your project.

Using advanced tools, through design platforms, we can plan the optimal layout, and highlight any limiting factors. Stratford Energy offer a full range of solutions, with different technology to enhance all roof types.

Can I have a Solar System?

Roof Material:

Most UK roofs are suitable for a Solar PV System, with the advancement in technology we now have mounting equipment for most roof types, from Pantile, Slate to flat roofs – there could be a solution for you.

A Solar PV System can be installed for 40 years, so we would advise and recommend on the condition of the roof and if Solar PV would be a viable option.

Roof Orientation and Pitch:

South facing roofs offer maximum performance from a Solar PV System, however East, West, and even North facing systems can achieve high levels of generation. We will provide detailed system designs which calculate Annual Energy Production, making it easy to see performance results.

The optimum pitch for a Solar PV System is 35 degrees, which is the typical UK roof pitch. However, higher incline and also flat roofs still provide high levels of generation.

Shading:

Although a roof aspect may look perfect for a Solar PV System, some have obstructions, such as trees and chimneys which can shade the array, which reduces the systems output. We offer an optimised inverter solution to tackle this issue.  An optimiser is installed on the back of each panel allowing each individual panel to operate independently. Therefore, one panel shading, will not reduce the entire array, maximising performance of the system at all times.

Aesthetics:

Most panels now offer an All-Black finish, which supplies a sleek finish to the system.  Although we are working within the roof parameters, we aim to maintain a symmetrical layout for a visually appealing system.

Structural Load:

With 14-years of experience we complete a roof survey before each installation during which we will check if your roof is suitable for a Solar PV Solution.  When designing the PV System, we use manufacturers’ design software, which provides wind/snow load calculations and confirms required mounting.

Electrical Considerations:

Although roof aspect can be our initial challenge, this equipment is electrical. At site survey we will assess the property current electrical set up, along with the requirements for Solar PV to be added. We will also assess the cable routes; this will be discussed with the customer and confirmed at site survey.

Accessibility:

Installation access is a key part of the proposal, at site survey we will determine access points, scaffold requirement and best layout ensuring that there is a safe and practical access for future maintenance and repairs.

Stratford Energy offer FREE desktop designs, which provide detailed reports on expected Generation and Self-Consumption. We will highlight the above factors and provide a full solution.
