Residential SolarEdge Upgrade & Energy Storage

Mr M. contacted us to improve his Residential Solar system and Battery system with the addition of Back-Up power. The existing ground mount Solar system was controlled by two inverters; one a Solax Hybrid Inverter with battery and also a SolarEdge optimised inverter.

There were a number of problems including only part of the Solar was optimised and monitored, the battery did not have enough storage capacity, low 3kW charge/discharge rate and no Back-Up during regular powercuts.

Our solution was to remove the Solax inverter and batteries, which was replaced by a second SoalrEdge inverter linking it to the existing one.
We also installed three Tesla Powerwalls which were stacked in front of each other providing 40.5kWh of storage increasing his capacity by over 30kWh yet still only taking up the same floor footprint.

The addition of the Tesla Gateway also provides the client with Back-Up power which are regular if only short in this area. The switch over to the battery is seamless so the client only knows when this happens when alerts are sent to his smart phone.
