Tesla PowerWall Storm Watch
Earlier this week, in anticipation of high winds from Storm Francis, Tesla turned on Storm Watch on UK installed Powerwalls with backup capability.
For all UK PowerWall customers with a Gateway 2 installed the battery has a function called Storm Watch. When a storm is on the way the function is activated automatically charging the battery to full capacity and then maintaining it at 100% in anticipation of a power cut. Once the storm passes the function will turn off and the battery returns to its preset function of using Solar or off-peak energy to charge.
Owners will be notified via their smart phones, and the Tesla app, that the battery has entered Storm Watch and have the option to override.
If PowerWall switches to backup mode because of a power cut the process will be instant & seamless with no interruption to the electricity supply & again the first a homeowner will know about it is a notification via the app.
