Helping Myton Hospices reduce energy costs across three sites
As a leading provider of specialist palliative and end-of-life care, Myton Hospices continually seeks ways to maximise the funds available for patient care while reducing its environmental impact. Following the successful installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, Stratford Energy was appointed to deliver bespoke solar PV systems across three hospice locations in Warwick, Rugby and Coventry.
The project was designed to lower electricity costs, improve long-term energy resilience and support the charity’s sustainability objectives without disrupting its vital day-to-day services.

The challenge
Operating multiple healthcare facilities means managing significant and rising electricity costs while ensuring buildings remain operational around the clock. Each hospice site presented different technical requirements, including varying roof layouts, limited installation space and areas affected by shading.
The challenge was to design solar PV systems that would maximise renewable energy generation at each location while maintaining the highest levels of reliability and performance.
The solution
Stratford Energy designed and installed three tailored SolarEdge solar PV systems, selecting equipment to suit the specific characteristics of each building.
Warwick Hospice
A 23.49 kWp solar PV system was installed using SolarEdge technology to maximise generation across the available roof space. The system was designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing electrical infrastructure while providing long-term energy savings.
Rugby Hospice
The Rugby site required a more specialist approach due to partial shading from surrounding trees and neighbouring buildings. By using SolarEdge power optimisers, each solar panel operates independently, ensuring that shading affects only individual modules rather than reducing the output of the entire array. This approach significantly improves overall system performance and protects long-term return on investment.
Coventry Hospice
The largest installation formed the centrepiece of the project, with a substantial 82.22 kWp solar PV system comprising 203 high-efficiency SunPower solar panels installed across four separate roof areas. Careful system design enabled Stratford Energy to maximise available roof space while maintaining excellent performance across multiple roof orientations.
