What Is the SigenStor Home Battery?
The SigenStor Home Battery by Sigenergy is a modular, scalable energy storage system designed to maximise self-consumption of solar energy and provide reliable backup power during grid outages. It combines an energy controller with stackable battery modules, allowing system storage capacity to be scaled from 6kWhup to 54kWh.
Unlike many home batteries that require a separate solar inverter, the SigenStor uses a hybrid inverter that manages both solar input and battery charging in a single unit. This reduces installation complexity and can improve system efficiency. Its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry delivers a strong cycle life and a safe thermal profile.
The system supports both wall-mounted and floor-mounted installation, carries an IP66 outdoor rating, and connects to the mySigen app for real-time monitoring of solar generation, battery status, household consumption and grid interaction.
SigenStor Key Features and Benefits
Scalable Modular Storage
The SigenStor starts at 6kWh or 9kWh and scales to 54kWh by stacking additional battery modules. This modular approach allows you to start with a system sized to your current needs and expand as your household’s energy requirements grow — for example, when you add an EV charger or a heat pump.
All-in-One Hybrid Inverter
The SigenStor’s integrated hybrid inverter handles solar PV input, battery charging, and grid interaction in a single unit, with support for 2 to 4 MPPT inputs depending on the inverter size. This reduces the number of separate components in the system and simplifies installation and maintenance.
Whole-Home Backup Power
The SigenStor’s backup gateway protects critical loads during a power cut, with smart port scheduling for non-critical loads. A fully expanded 54kWh system can provide extended wholehome backup — enough to power a typical UK home for multiple days without grid supply.
LFP Battery Chemistry and Safety
The SigenStor uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which offers a longer cycle life and a more stable thermal profile than other storage batteries. Safety features include high-temperature pads, aerogel insulation, built-in fire suppression, decompression valves, and temperature monitoring — five independent layers of protection.
IP66 Rated for Indoor and Outdoor Use
The SigenStor carries an IP66 ingress protection rating, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor installation. Dimensions are H:370–1990mm × W:200mm × D:260mm depending on the number of modules, and the system weighs 18–456kg depending on configuration.
mySigen App Monitoring
The mySigen app provides real-time visibility of solar generation, battery status, household consumption, grid interaction, and EV charging status, with updates every 10 seconds. The app supports tariff optimisation, generator input management, and on/off-grid flexibility settings.
How Much Does the SigenStor Battery Cost?
SigenStor pricing depends on the system size you choose, your existing solar setup, and any additional options such as the EV DC charging module or backup gateway configuration. The system is competitively priced for an all-in-one solution because the hybrid inverter is included — unlike some battery storage systems where the inverter is a separate cost.
