A COMMERCIAL CASE STUDY

Solar Panel Installers in Coventry

380kWp warehouse solar installation delivering lower energy costs and a five-year payback

When the owners of the Mallory Way warehouse completed a major roof refurbishment, they wanted to maximise the value of the investment by installing a large-scale commercial solar PV system.

Stratford Energy Solutions designed and installed a 380kWp rooftop solar array that now generates around 30% of the building’s annual electricity demand, helping reduce operating costs while cutting carbon emissions by approximately 50 tonnes every year.

With an expected five-year return on investment, the system provides decades of low-cost renewable electricity backed by industry-leading warranties.

Project overview

Location Coventry
Building Type Commercial warehouse
System Size 380kWp
Solar Panels 940 Solarwatt panels
Annual Electricity Offset Approximately 30%
Annual CO₂ Reduction 50 tonnes
Estimated Payback Around 5 years

The challenge

Following refurbishment of the warehouse roof, the client wanted to improve the building’s long-term efficiency while protecting the business from rising electricity costs.

Their objectives were clear:

  • Reduce grid electricity consumption
  • Lower operational costs
  • Improve environmental performance
  • Maximise the value of the refurbished roof
  • Achieve a strong financial return

Our solution

Our commercial solar team designed a bespoke 380kWp Solar PV system using 940 premium Solarwatt modules, carefully optimised for the available roof space.

The installation was planned to minimise disruption to normal business operations while providing maximum long-term energy generation.

The completed system now supplies roughly one-third of the site’s electricity demand, significantly reducing reliance on imported electricity during daylight hours.

Results

The project is already delivering measurable benefits.

30% of electricity generated onsite

Producing renewable electricity where it is used helps the business reduce exposure to rising energy prices while lowering ongoing operating costs.

50 tonnes of CO₂ saved every year

That’s equivalent to removing the emissions from hundreds of thousands of kilometres of driving each year.

Five-year return on investment

After the initial payback period, the system will continue generating free renewable electricity for decades, creating significant long-term savings.

Long-term reliability

The installation is protected by industry-leading equipment warranties, giving the client confidence in performance for many years to come.

Why this project matters

Large commercial roofs are often one of a company’s most valuable untapped assets.

By installing solar immediately after roof refurbishment, the Mallory Way project demonstrates how businesses can combine planned building improvements with renewable energy investment to achieve:

  • Lower operating costs
  • Reduced carbon emissions
  • Greater energy independence
  • Improved ESG credentials
  • Strong long-term financial returns
