What Is the SigenStor Home Battery?

The SigenStor Home Battery by Sigenergy is a modular, scalable energy storage system designed to maximise self-consumption of solar energy and provide reliable backup power during grid outages. It combines an energy controller with stackable battery modules, allowing system storage capacity to be scaled from 6kWh up to 54kWh.

Unlike many home batteries that require a separate solar inverter, the SigenStor uses a hybrid inverter that manages both solar input and battery charging in a single unit. This reduces installation complexity and can improve system efficiency. Its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry delivers a strong cycle life and a safe thermal profile.

The system supports both wall-mounted and floor-mounted installation, carries an IP66 outdoor rating, and connects to the mySigen app for real-time monitoring of solar generation, battery status, household consumption and grid interaction.

SigenStor Key Features and Benefits

Group 1332

Scalable Modular Storage

The SigenStor starts at 6kWh or 9kWh and scales to 54kWh by stacking additional battery modules. This modular approach allows you to start with a system sized to your current needs and expand as your household’s energy requirements grow — for example, when you add an EV charger or a heat pump.

Group 1420

All-in-One Hybrid Inverter

The SigenStor’s integrated hybrid inverter handles solar PV input, battery charging, and grid interaction in a single unit, with support for 2 to 4 MPPT inputs depending on the inverter size. This reduces the number of separate components in the system and simplifies installation and maintenance.

Group 1421

Whole-Home Backup Power

The SigenStor’s backup gateway protects critical loads during a power cut, with smart port scheduling for non-critical loads. A fully expanded 54kWh system can provide extended wholehome backup — enough to power a typical UK home for multiple days without grid supply.

Group 1282

LFP Battery Chemistry and Safety

The SigenStor uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which offers a longer cycle life and a more stable thermal profile than other storage batteries. Safety features include high-temperature pads, aerogel insulation, built-in fire suppression, decompression valves, and temperature monitoring — five independent layers of protection.

Group 1331

IP66 Rated for Indoor and Outdoor Use

The SigenStor carries an IP66 ingress protection rating, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor installation. Dimensions are H:370–1990mm × W:200mm × D:260mm depending on the number of modules, and the system weighs 18–456kg depending on configuration.

Group 1424

mySigen App Monitoring

The mySigen app provides real-time visibility of solar generation, battery status, household consumption, grid interaction, and EV charging status, with updates every 10 seconds. The app supports tariff optimisation, generator input management, and on/off-grid flexibility settings.

How Much Does the SigenStor Battery Cost?

SigenStor pricing depends on the system size you choose, your existing solar setup, and any additional options such as the EV DC charging module or backup gateway configuration. The system is competitively priced for an all-in-one solution because the hybrid inverter is included — unlike some battery storage systems where the inverter is a separate cost.

Factor affecting price Detail
System size (number of modules) 6kWh to 54kWh. Each additional module adds to the total cost but increases storage capacity and potential savings.
EV DC charging module The optional 12kW or 25kW EV DC charging module adds to the system cost but eliminates the need for a separate EV charger.
Existing solar setup Retrofitting to an existing solar installation may require additional configuration work versus installing alongside a new solar array.
Cable routing complexity Properties requiring long cable runs or unusual routing between the battery, inverter, and consumer unit may incur additional cost.
0% VAT All battery storage installations in UK homes carry 0% VAT — already reflected in your quote.

All installations are carried out by our own in-house Tesla Premium Certified engineers — not subcontractors. If your property has specific requirements (for example, a cable run over 15m or a nonstandard mounting configuration), we will advise during your free survey before any work is agreed.

SigenStor vs Tesla Powerwall 3 — Which Is Right for You?

As authorised installers of both the Sigenergy SigenStor and the Tesla Powerwall 3, we are wellplaced to help you choose the right system for your home. Both are excellent home battery storage solutions — the right choice depends on your priorities and existing setup.

Feature SigenStor Tesla Powerwall 3
Storage capacity 6–54 kWh (modular — start small, scale up) 13.5 kWh (+13.5 kWh per Expansion Pack, max 54 kWh)
Battery chemistry LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt)
Integrated solar inverter Yes — hybrid inverter included, 2–4 MPPT inputs Yes — DC-coupled inverter built in
EV DC charging Yes — optional 12kW or 25kW DC module Via 'Charge on Solar' feature (AC)
Maximum scalability Up to 54 kWh in one system Up to 54 kWh (1 unit + 3 Expansion Packs)
Backup power Yes — critical loads gateway, whole-home backup Yes — whole-home backup, fast switchover
App monitoring mySigen app (10-second updates) Tesla app
IP rating IP66 — indoor or outdoor installation IP67 — indoor or outdoor installation
Warranty 10 years all-inclusive (optional 5-year) 10 years, unlimited cycles, 70% retention
Best for Homes wanting all-in-one scalability and optional integrated EV DC charging Homes in the Tesla ecosystem or wanting Powerwall brand reassurance

Verdict: both systems are excellent. If you want maximum scalability in a single modular unit with the option of integrated EV DC charging, the SigenStor offers greater configurability. If you are already in the Tesla ecosystem, prioritise the brand reassurance of Tesla, or want seamless integration with Tesla solar and EV products, the Powerwall 3 is the stronger fit.

Why We Install the SigenStor — An Installer’s Perspective

“Stratford Energy chose to stock and install the Sigenergy SigenStor alongside the Tesla Powerwall 3 to offer customers greater flexibility and future-proof energy storage options.

SigenStor stands out for its scalable modular design, allowing systems to expand more easily over time. Its all-inone setup combines the hybrid inverter, battery, and energy management system into a single integrated unit, simplifying installation and reducing space requirements.

It also offers integrated DC EV charging, helping customers maximise solar usage and charging efficiency, while its LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery chemistry provides excellent safety, thermal stability, and long-term reliability. By offering both SigenStor and Tesla Powerwall 3, Stratford Energy can recommend the best solution based on each customer’s property, energy usage, and future plans.
