COVID-19 update – Solar & EV Charger installations re-commence with revised working methods
As a responsible business we have always been focussed on the Health & Safety of our staff and customers. We have closely followed the COVID-19 Government guidelines suspending all installation work on the 24th March.
Over the last 2 weeks we have communicated with our clients on their thoughts on our return to installing and following last night’s announcement by the Prime Minister we began a phased return to work today.
Our working methods have been updated to ensure the safety of both staff and customers with careful consideration for each individual project discussing any requirements with home & business owners.
We continue to run all administration functions of the business as normal with skeleton staff working in the office and others at home.
All unnecessary visits including initial site surveys will continue to be virtual with the use of Google Earth and video conferencing such as Zoom or MS Teams. Now maybe an ideal time whilst at home to discuss opportunities for Solar, Energy Storage or EV Charging.
In the meantime, we thank our customers & staff for your support and understanding during this difficult time. Our thoughts are also with anyone directly affected by the virus and our amazing NHS workers.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us either by calling 01789 262411 or emailing info@stratfordenergy.co.uk.
This note confirms how these infrastructure grants schemes will operate this year. OLEV will update guidance documents in light of these changes in the coming weeks.
As from the 1 April 2020 the grant for these schemes will be set at £350 towards the cost of purchase and installation of a chargepoint at home through the electric vehicle homecharge scheme, and £350 towards a chargepoint socket at work through the workplace charging scheme. This is a reduction from £500 to £350 although the number of sockets allowed will double from 20 to 40.
The new rate will apply to installations on or after 1 April 2020 for EVHS and will apply to voucher applications submitted on or after 1 April 2020 for WCS.
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement last night & to keep our customers & employees safe we have suspended all installations
Our sales team are remote working so please continue to contact us by clicking here or email info@stratfordenergy.co.uk

Public Electric Vehicle Charging in Coventry Car Park
We have recently installed 18 x Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Points at the new Salt Lane Car Park in Coventry.
Located in the City Centre, Salt Lane car park is spread across six floors and now offers a number of dedicated spaces for electric vehicles. Th industry-leading charging infrastructure offers drivers an easy park and charge solution in Central Coventry.
Upon arrival at the car park, electric vehicles drivers can charge their vehicle in two ways:
Once plugged-in to a select number of chargers, drivers can initiative the charge using a contactless payment card at the adjacent kiosk EO Pay. Drivers pay for a fixed cost charging session based on time, which can be topped up if planning to stay longer than the average trip into the city!
Drivers can also power their vehicle using one of our EO Genius chargers – payment is done on a ‘Pay-as-you-go’ basis through the EO App (free to download on all smartphones). The app allows the drivers to start or stop their charge and carefully monitor the amount they’ve spent.
Behind the scenes, Coventry City Council will manage the charging infrastructure using the EO Cloud – EO’s industry-leading management platform.
This installation at Salt Lane car park is the start of many that we hope to install with EO Charging as part of Plug in Coventry initiative.
Electric car chargepoints to be installed in all future homes in world first
All new-build homes could soon be fitted with an electric car chargepoint, the government has outlined today (15 July 2019) in apublic consultation on changing building regulations in England. The consultation comes alongside a package of announcements to support electric vehicle drivers and improve the experience of charging.
Plans include:
all new-build homes could be fitted with an electric car chargepoint as record levels of ultra-low emission vehicles hit UK roads
England set to be first country to introduce mandatory chargepoints in new homes, cementing position as global leader in race to net zero emissions
government also consulting on ‘smart’ charging, to help allow consumers save money by charging EVs off-peak
Here at Stratford Energy Solutions we offer a number of solutions for developers in the new build market.
